AKL University visit
Emaar Middle East, the subsidiary of global property developer Emaar Properties PJSC, hosted 120 students from the University of Dammam's Architectural College, to provide them with a detailed site inspection of Al Khobar Lakes. The students met with the project's engineers to discuss the developmental and architectural facets of Al Khobar Lakes, the design aspects, as well as the various factors that had to be taken into consideration when designing the layout for Al Khobar Lakes.

Additionally, the students were provided with invaluable insights on executing their design conceptions into models, and the implementation process that revolves around this stage.

Eng. Ahmad Al Kulli, General Manager of Emaar Middle East, said: "Al Khobar Lakes was designed to provide its residents and visitors with the highest standards of quality and service excellence, in line with Emaar's vision. We are confident that the master-planned community will continue to serve as the benchmark for aspiring architects." Dr Okal Al Joufy, head of the visiting team, said the tour of Al Khobar Lakes was highly informative covering various aspects of architecture including planning, interior design and technology, which enabled the students to gain a strong understanding of theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. He expressed his appreciation of the college management, represented by the Dean Dr Abdul Salaam Al Sadiry, and to the Emaar Middle East management for hosting the event. He said the university is keen to forge future collaborations to strengthen the skills of engineers of the future and to nurture their academic knowledge. With handover currently underway and homeowners moving into Al Nada Village in Al Khobar Lakes, the project will eventually feature a large retail centre with a gross leasable area of 95,000 sq m; 104,000 sq m of landscaping, greenery and parks; 11 mosques including a Grand Mosque for Friday Prayers; two educational facilities for both boys and girls; a shopping centre, two community centres, healthcare facilities and other amenities.
